Distracting noise from sensors

Featured Replies

The noise from the various sensors on my 2019 Fabia is very distracting, I was forced to reverse by a tractor with four huge wheels,

the input to the sensors as it advanced coupled with my reversing was quite disorientating, is there a quick way to cancel all the noise?

The last time I had this much noise was in heavy traffic on dual carriageway, rush hour Truro.

Is there not a "shut up" option on the infotainment screen, so you can temp disable the sounders?  There is one on the same age Polos with front+rear parking sensors.

I know there is a big cross that appears on the infotainment system when reversing top right, not sure if that mutes the beeping though.

If you go into setup, there is definitely an option to adjust the loudness of the bleeps; but I'm not sure if it can actually be muted. There used to be a dedicated button on the dash for disabling Park Assist (but I may be thinking of a different car).

There's a button, (near the stop-start) above where the headlight setting switch dial is at. That will temporarily disable the sensors, i most often use it going through drive-throughs.

Correct, I tried that today on wife’s Polo, the disabling via the infotainment screen merely removes the parking assist graphic from the radio etc screen.

Edit:- on second thoughts, the mute icon on that screen will probably mute the noises!

The obvious, even "simply clever" question seems to be "if I'm reversing in a straight line, why do I need the front sensors active?"

Probably a “trend” but for people playing at being a car driver, and not understanding that some radical steering inputs can cause the front to move in an unexpected direction - shock horror!
