New to me Skoda Octavia Estate owner

Featured Replies

Hi folks

After managing to kill my Renault scenic by driving through a small flood I've invested in an Octavia estate and I'm hoping it is going to be a reliable motor for many years to come. I'm retired and now focus on artwork and wildlife so hope to get round and about quite a lot in it. I also have an electric wheelchair which I will be adapting the bootspace to be able to transport it.

It is ex- ambulance service so I'm hoping it will have been well maintained - fingers crossed.

Cheers

Richard

Hi Richard

You're not alone in killing a Scenic; one unnamed member of our family also killed on a couple of years back ...

I'm interested in how you get on with the mods to include your electric wheelchair in the boot space.  I would think the height would be the biggest issue?

As regards a post-Ambulance beast, there's another thread running currently about dealing with battery drain:

it sounds to me like a fault on the door switch on that as it isn't registering the door being closed - people are giving lots of advice but some of it isn't right as the reserve battery system is charged seperately from the main car battery and the auto release system is for charging that so that medical equipment has a seperate and isolated supply.

My wheelchair isn't light but it does fold down - so should fit in the back ok but I will be putting in reinforced tracks and a tie down system as it will need to be really secure - can't wait to get it hopefully I will have it next week and can get rid of this horrible hire car I've been given
