Thanks!

I just wanted to inform you guys that the dealer told me that might be software update will solve it.

Do you know if i can do that by my own? at least to try it?

No you can't.

@LioriK

You can not do it.  Before anyone else can you need to know.

Was your gearbox one that left the Factory with Synthetic Oil from 2009-2012 and part of the World Wide Recall / European Service Campaign '34F7'.

If so there is a Software Update.  & the changing Synthetic Oil to Mineral.

Or 2013-2015 there is a Software Update. '34H5'.

Seeing as yours has the Flashing spanner and possibly late 2012 i do not know of a 'Software Update', which is the issue.

Maybe they will do a 'Reset' though.

Ask Skoda / VW, give the cars VIN.  Deal with Technicians / Mechanics that know and have the software, not ones prepared to give things a go.

Unfortunately by the time you have the flashing white spanner, a software update will not resolve the issue on its own. The spanner is flashing to advise of a problem with the DSG, most likely the mechatronic unit and most likely the internal pump within that unit.

The answer lies in repairing or replacing the busted part of the DSG I'm afraid. Once that is done, the dealer will install basic settings and update any software as required.

Wishing you luck in getting your car fixed.

Thanks! I just check the prices of the DSG units and it’s so expensive.

I need to check if I can use the insurance to take care of it.

What will happened in case I’ll continue driving the car till it will stop?

Because now everything works fine.

You need to decide if you risk it and are lucky.

If you were to keep going, or someone in the UK was it would not be a £3,600 unit needed, maybe just the £1,100 plus for a Mechatronic Unit if that what it was,

or Clutch Packs if they are needed.

Or maybe you just need the diagnostics, maybe either or both of the oils changed, maybe just a 'Reset' of the DSG and see if there is nothing wrong.

This members Fabia with a DQ200 DSG was one built before yours and did not have the flashing spanner,

that came on the cars with them late 2012.

So he had a fault and it turned out to be a selector, the car was checked by a specialist and it is fixed sand got new clutch packs and a selector.

Hi All,

So just to update you all, i went to the Skoda dealer and they told me that i need to replace the gearbox which cost 1/3 of the car 🙂

I decided not to fall to their trap and to buy the VCDS with the cable and i run full test against the car.

Attached are the results -

1. Could you please explain to me which bulb should i buy in order to replace the left bulb, i don't know if this is for the regular light or parking light or...?

2. For the transmission box - What exactly the issue? can i fix it without replacing the whole gearbox?

006079 - Hydraulic Pump
               P17BF - 000 - Play Protection - Intermittent
006079 - Unlicensed Version. Not all DTCs
               P17BF - 001 -  - Intermittent

I think your printout shows exactly what bulb is failed """Lamp for Low Beam; Left"""

@LioriK

?

Did whoever say why the gearbox should be replaced?

?

Was it because they can not be bothered fixing it, replacing clutches or selector or the MCU or they do not know how too?

?

So basically what is the fault according to them?

People that can fix things once they know what is actually wrong are so handy.

Is this a DQ200 7 speed DSG.

Did it get neither '347F' carried out, Mineral Oil instead of the Synthetic, and software update, DSG 2009-2012,

or

'34H5'  2013-2015, Software Update.

There is a time late 2012 that owners were told neither Campaign Required.   With these the Flashing White Spanner shows the fault.

Some need a pump, some thee Mechatronic Unit, & some both and Clutch Pack.

This is becoming quite common on these late 2012 built DQ200 DSG's.

After i checked with Skoda, the gearbox was upgraded on 2013. They have confirmed that.

@LioriK

Sorry could you explain.

?

Was your gearbox upgraded on 2013 with a Software Update or do you mean they say they put out upgraded gearboxes from the factory?

You posted your car as April 2012.

That was when there was still a World Wide Recall that excluded Europe,

& cars were taken in and Mineral oil replaced the Synthetic and there was a Software update.

?

Is that what your car had done?

Or as in some countries was a new MCU fitted and Mineral oil used and a software update done on your car?

As to the change in the DQ200 DSG's from the factory from late 2012, 2013-2015, they were then subject to a Service Campaign to do a Software Update,

or some were, some were missed and many never needed that.

In some countries like China Skoda / VW Group gave an extended warranty on the DQ200 DSG that were part of the World Wide recall.

Correct, so after the local Skoda delear check my car in their computer they confirmed that the gearbox was software upgraded + the Mineral & Synthetic replaced. This what was done during May 2013 part of the recall here.

Good

so ask in writing if the Warranty on the DSG was increased in Israel as in some countries to 160,000 km / 10 years

Ok, so i just spoke with them today morning (with the Skoda service) and they told me the gearbox got only through "software update" was part of the campaign to 37G8, so they didn't replaced the mineral or the oil.

What does it means?

They also mentioned that for any trouble with the gearbox i need to pay from my pocket and there is no warranty for this campaign.

Please help me what should i do?

@LioriK

Sorry no idea what you can do if you still do not know what is wrong and why anyone says you need a new gearbox and not a repair with a new MCU if that is what is faulty.

Well, it definitely means that you haven't correctly understood or translated what you were told, if that was correct.

Mineral is a type of oil; as are synthetic oil and vegetable oil. So you don't change the the mineral and the oil independently. If I've kept track correctly, some VAG transmissions are subject to a recall to have the oil in them changed from a synthetic oil to a mineral oil.

& not all DQ200 DSG's from 2009-2012 had the Synthetic oil changed from Synthetic to Mineral oil and had a Software update in Europe / UK

because Skoda / VW / Audi / Skoda said they had mineral oil in from the factory.

Some of those are failing in the UK now with the 'Flashing Spanner' symbol.

Those in Europe that had Mineral OIl in should maybe have had '37 G8' carried out, the software update, but i had never heard of it being done.

I have asked in the Fabia MK2 section if anyone has in the pinned DQ200 Service campaign thread.

This is exactly what they told me in Skoda garage/dealer, also in Israel they just did the software update without replacing the oil.

But still, they claim that the spanner tool is not because of the update
