Clutch needs replacing

Featured Replies

Hi all,

I have had issues with the clutch on my 64 reg Citigo se 60 manual. I had it from new and the gearbox was clunky, difficulty engaging 1st, 3rd to 2nd and selecting reverse. Selecting reverse had become more difficult of late with lots of grinding of gears. I avoid reverse when I can.

I have been advised by VAG mechanic that it needs a new clutch fitted. It has covered approx 33,000 miles to date.

I am thinking about getting rid, possibly trade in for an Octavia on PCP rather than spend money on it.

I have always found the car tiring to drive i.e. always having to keep it revved up and in the correct gear if approaching a hill etc.

Any body else faced a similar scenario? any thoughts welcome.

Well, that does sound like it could be a worn clutch, particularly if the pedal effort has got heavier.

As to the mileage covered, I can't say if that's reasonable or not, because I don't know how you (or any other drivers) treat the clutch.

Sounds like it hasn't been right from the start, did you not get Skoda to look at it or did they fob you off?

Hi,

I did mention it at service time but nothing came out of it.; on reflection I was fobbed off.

New clutch is much cheaper than car trade.
