Engine vibration

Featured Replies

Hi, not sure if i'm over reacting but the engine seems to vibrate quite noticeably on my 2015, 2.0l cdti which has done 41k. When sitting in traffic in gear (DSG) it vibrates quite a lot, when i shift it to N the vibration is less intense but only slightly.

Is this just a diesel thing? my last car was an insignia 2.0l cdti which had done 110k when i sold it, i don't remember noticing the vibration. When comparing the car to my colleagues 1.4l petrol KIA I honestly thought the engine was turned off at the traffic lights it was so smooth.

cheers.

Compared to the 1.4 TSI (or other modern petrols) the 2.0TDi is a rough old lump. Mine clatters, rattles and vibrates all over the place , especially when cold. I can mainly feel the vibrations through the pedals but sometimes the whole centre console has a kind of "buzz" to it. Car seems to run OK though and with my newly installed remap flies along. Just turn your music up ;)

So long as the engine isn't jumping around in the engine bay it's probably just a "characteristic of the engine" as the dealers like to say.

Your engine shouldn't noticeably vibrate as you put it. Mine is rock steady and quiet.
