Water in spare wheel well

Featured Replies

Hi all,

My spare wheel well has been filling up with water.

I found this piece (circled), behind the rear break light completely broken.

Unfortunately, I do not have any idea of its name or part number It is actually the top angled piece that has, but I assume its one part.

Could anyone help me with it?

Many thanks,

Commonly H20 gets in them. Has done from the cars being new.

There to stop the car becoming a pressure cooker as you blow air in the front.

Some people seal them, glue them shut. Open windows when they can etc.

You could google 'flaps' you get all sorts of websites.

Handy for transporting Gold fish.

When I bought my car from a garage earlier this year, the wheel well was full of water. The mechanic put a screwdriver through the seal and drained it. It turned out they pressure washed the car and there was a hairline crack in the  left light cluster.  Also there was damage to the bumper on the right hand side and that piece of plastic just above the flaps was broken off. It didn't cause the water to enter the car, the flaps also help let out the air pressure when you close the boot.
