Leaking rear wiper

Featured Replies

Hi All,

finally took the boot trim trim off to explore the leaking rear wiper.

The motor works fine and it appears the pipe is in tact but it’s obvious it’s been leaking for a while now and it’s coming from the little black plastic nipple and assembly that attaches the pipe too. I expect there’s a small hole somewhere

is this a simple swap out for a novice like myself and what parts from fleabay do I need?

Having had a look it would appear the wiper motor is the same across seat, VW, Audi and Skoda - is there a minimum year I should be looking at?

i realise I can’t buy an estate wiper motor but will for example one from a MK5 golf work?

No answers to this and I can’t find it via a search....

we all know multiple VAG parts fit each male and model across the VAG family.

I have found a brand new Valeo rear wiper motor part number Vw Seat Skoda Audi Rear Wiper Motor 1J6955711G

I’m guessing it’s for a MK5 golf or seat Leon MK2 but will this fit an Octavia?

photos of the part look very similar to the broken part on my vehicle as per below. Any one got any ideas?

The motor is still working but the black connecter with nipple is leaking which no doubt means the motor will fry itself soon!

What model and year is your Octy?  A hatch I assume?

Yeah it’s a 2011 VRS Octavia

Looks like the part number is 1Z5 955 711 B for build dates 06.12.2010>> 08.04.2012.  Parts diagram here.

According to skoda-parts.com this looks like it fits all O2 saloons and a number of O3s.

There are two listed (new) on aliexpress.com from about 30 squid plus postage and several on fleabay starting from 29.15 free post.

Thanks that’s really useful however the link to one on aliexpress is for an estate as it doesn’t have the water connector.

ill have to keep searching as my original point was surely any motor from across the VAG range should fit as they all look the same

The motor packed up this evening so I now really have no choice it’s got to be changed, regardless of the little use a rear wiper gets it’s now going to bug me if I don’t!

You are right that the part number is for an estate,

Look again at the parts diagram chart linked to in the post above. For a hatch back part number, choose a sedan model and then look at applicability on the right to find your car.

Does anyone have a guide to fit the rear boot black plastic trim back on!?

i can’t for the life of me get it back on!

I struggled refitting mine and after much swearing and broken clip bracket I was informed after that it’s easier to fit if you sit inside the boot.  Not tried it myself but might be a little less frustrating

I’m sure I’ve seen someone talking about re fitting the trim before but I’ve searched a few times on here and can’t find it!

Finally got the wiper motor ordered this week so may just give it to a garage to sort out!

Well I bought a brand new Magneti rear wiper motor. With a discount code on fleabay it was £51 not too bad considering it has 12 months warranty.

i couldn’t work out how to get the plastic trim back on and didn’t have the tool to remove the wiper arm so a local garage had the pleasure for just £30 fitted.

not a bad result all round.

needless to say the rear wiper washer won’t be used very much to reduce the risk of the motor failing again!

Just as important is making sure the washer fluid is up to strength in freezing weather to avoid ice crystals forcing joints apart.
