Music files not recognised by Octavia

Featured Replies

I have a 2018 Octavia, and I have over 20 albums, in either mp3 or Apple MPEg-4 audio formats. These have been copied directly from iTunes on a MacBook (most were originally ripped from CDs). Not all of the tracks are playable - the car software skips over entire albums, even though the title is read by the audio system. In one album, originally all tracks were playable, then one by one the system wouldn't recognise some tracks. Is this a tagging issue? I don't know what to look for, as when I have looked at the tags in mp3tag on a Windows machine, I can't see anything obvious wrong. I keep trying to copy albums to my SD card, but few are actually recognised by the car audio. Any ideas?

Are there any of the files with dot prefix left by macOS still on the SD card? These can "upset" the infotainment system in the Octavia.

Could be similar to what I had a couple years ago:

Good point! I'll have a look, but I don't know how to see these  (maybe try to find them on a Windows machine?)

Thanks to everyone. I think I have solved it. Its definitely a MacOS problem. Every audio track had a dot prefix file, which I manually deleted (c couple of hundred files), but that didn't change anything. However, I then deleted every album on the SD card that doesn't work in my Octavia (about 5 or 6) albums. I ripped the CDs again on a PC and transferred the files to the SD card, and so far everything works! I don't know why files from a Mac don't always work in the car, but its good that files from a PC do work.
