You have to remove the front bumper first, to do this partially remove the front wheel arch liner at the front end, I removed just enough screws to be able to access the bolts located at "position 2" in the top image. NOTE I removed the single mounting bracket bolt as opposed to the 2 identified.

There "should" be a small access panel in the front face of the wheel arch that you can pop out which also helps.

Then the headlight is easy.

Thank you UrbanPanzer,

saw your post this morning and thought that too much out of my comfort zone so popped it into my local garage and the have sorted it.

...A LOT OF FAFF TO CHANGE A HEADLIGHT. That said, some cars are a lot of faff, just to change a flipping' bulb! Some even need a new headlight as it is basically the bulb, in a sealed unit. (Usually older stuff in this instance). I suppose its the price you pay to have modern, clean, flush looking headlights with little in the way of visible screws/fastenings.

Sealed beam headlights used to be the norm: Of course, back then the unit was about twice the price of a normal halogen dual filament bulb.

This page is a godsent. Mrs B took a pigeon which cracked the light. Having given up for tonight I now see the bolts I missed - the Number 2s looked inaccessible to me but I'll try again tomorrow.
