Skoda Rapid, do people buy them?

Featured Replies

I followed a Skoda Rapid today, the first time that I have ever seen one or been conscious of it, perhaps I have mistaken them for Octavias before, this was a hatchback and I was convinced it was an Octavia, I was driving behind in mine and from every angle it looked the same size.

Maybe its just in France that you dont see them, estates are also very rare here for some reason probably prohibitively expensive when new.

Other than fitting in between the Fabia and Octavia is there anything going for them? Are they as tardis like inside as the Octavia but return better fuel economy, what is the ride and NVH like?

It may be worth me considering next time round if my Octavia meets a premature end, I dont use all the luggage space regularly like before, rarely if ever carry passengers and I have several trailers to make up any shortfall.

Finally if they are not lacking are they underpriced second hand compared to the Octavia or expensive because of the rarety?

Plenty in Scotland as Taxi / Private Hire / UBER.

Well, given its been discontinued due to lower than expected sales, and been replaced by the dedicated hatchback Scala... the rapid was meant to fit between the fabia and octy, as a saloon, the "spaceback" being the "estate" version but about the size of a focus hatchback (roughly, might be a bit smaller)

Worth considering instead of an octy? Debatable.. the saloon boot doesnt open Octavia style, so access isnt as good.

They're very narrow but long. Comfortable for 4 but not 5. Very low tech, Golf MK4 parts amongst lots of old Polo bits. Early ones had poor ride and steering, but that improved from late 2013 on. Not worth high prices but can be a bargain for a family car. Got 6000 discount off my first new one. 9000 off my second new one. Depreciation is hard though. It's a cheap old fashioned car.

In 2020 there will be plenty of these sitting as unsold and unloved used cars,

they will be Ex Demonstrators, called Ex Management but will really be ones that were supplied cheap to Fleet or Hire Companies so that it looked like lots of first registrations and a great sales success.

No idea how ISO Fix makes up for no rear armrest if you are not fitting child seats and just want an armrest for the 1 or 2 rear passengers.

No not a Taxi then, maybe just a carryout delivery car.

Then the Ice Scrapper is only any good in the Fuel Filler Flap if at last Skoda have a Fuel Filler Flap that will not freeze closed.

It will be a light horsebox and trailer you will be towing....

No 1.5 TSI EVO yet showing in the UK, orders on that later,

and do not ask the Sales Person about Kangaroos.  Never happened.  All an Internet Myth.
