Wet footwells

Featured Replies

2010 superb , unfortunately recently been letting water inside the car to the front and rear drivers footwells. Any ideas as to where it could be coming from? Literally holds a puddle. I’ve opened a plug from the rear of the car to let water out but I’d prefer It didn’t get in at all..

cheers in advance.

Front and rear sounds unusual, could be a door seal? See if someone will splash a hose while you sit inside - up into the wheel arches too. I'd definitely have a look at the pollen filter too, when they are blocked with dead leaves and insects etc I've seen water ingress / wet mats.

Leaks can be from almost anywhere the carpets draw the water to the lowest point. A few years ago my wife's Mondeo had wet carpets and it was a missing rear light gasket causing it.

To " @Martin3 " - I recommend first to remove the front wipers and two black plastic covers and perfect clean the compartment under them. Be carefull with plastic covers - they are so fragile in part, that they come into the front glass seal 😞I broke one of mine about two mounths ago (and buy new one for about €25). In the compatment - there is two holes in the left and the right nook - they have to be clean of any pollutant. Do you have Panoramic Roof? Check every door seals - slowly and try to move them a little with two or three fingers to check are they stay hard to the doors..

Does your car have a sunroof ? or has it had a replacement windscreen?

On various cars I've worked on /restored over the years to identify water leaks - remove all carpets and dust floor/ bulkhead/boot/under rear seats with talc!

Best case - you spot the leak (some are difficult eg some sunroof drains expel water into the A pillar)

Worst - it smells nice!
