Door handle

Featured Replies

I hope someone can help me with confirming the type of fitting and size the door handle holding screw on edge of the door is, not an Allen key or Torks so is it a Star drive one?, difficult to see even with a torch, as I tried both of these and don't have small star drive (reminds me of beam me up Scotty)

Need to remove the glass as the winder wire is chewed up.

Thanks in advance

Martin

But you don't need to remove the door handle for that.

Hi TMB Lee, well I note what you say about the door handle, have you experience with removing the front door glass leaving the exterior handle in place.

Martin.

As we’ve discussed recently, you don’t have to but it’s a better job if you do.

Plenty of guides on YouTube for removing the regulator.

I know Ross but he's on about the exterior door handle not the lock unit. There is no reason to remove the handle.

You have to remove the handle if you want to remove the lock unit. How else will you disconnect the cable that operates the lock?

Yeah sorry, my mistake. I was thinking it just wound out enough to get the cable out but there's nothing holding it after that anyway. Personally, I prefer to leave the lock on the car to do the regulator but that's just me. I know the proper way is to leave the lock attached to the carrier but it's more work. Each to their own.

Hi fellas,I didn't wish to cause an issue, just needed help to identify the exterior handle fixing type.

We all know there are several ways to carry out the same task.

Thanks both for your help.

Martin.

No issue at all here. We are perfectly good friends and we respect each other’s advice. We are both right, just slightly different approaches to the same thing.

Indeed

I think new dudes expect Facebook levels of sensitivity and that no-one ever disagrees about anything, he'll soon learn.
