Front Disc Pads - same problem twice ?

Featured Replies

Any ideas ?

Replaced the Front discs and pads with After Market Brembo (Euro Car Parts) and after less than 300 miles, rotational rubbing / creaking noise on braking slowly.

No noise at higher speeds, no pulsing pedal to suspect discs and only at slower speeds.

Swapped discs Right to Left and problem stayed with disc.

Returned to ECP and noisy disc looked scorched.

Strange thing is, the new discs and pads are exhibiting the same issue again (Left side now) at less than 200 miles !!

Anyone else experience the same issue ?

Is this likely to be a car or disc problem  ?

I’ve checked the piston returns after braking, the wheels are free to turn and nothing sticks.

The car brakes nice and straight.

Could the master cylinder cause this ?

Caliper ? Or is it likely to be a duff disc again ?

A long-shot but it could be related to the hill-start system somehow sticking from time to time, or maybe the master cylinder is somehow sticking, but I'm sure you'd feel the effect of either of these....

I assume that if you fit new disk and pads, the piston(s) will need to be forced in a bit to accommodate, and it used to be the case that you had to open the bleed nipples to do this -but not sure if this is done these days.  My point being, I used to change my brake fluid at the same time, but when was yours last replaced? Another long-shot but I'm wondering if it has got contaminated ?

It would be interesting to hear what ECP say, although they are just a parts reseller, and unless the disk goes back for fault analysis to Brembo, I'm not sure ECP will have much insight to offer. At least Brembo will be able to tell if the part is actually one of theirs, as opposed to a fake part!

[edit] Given the problem seems to be one disk, I'm guessing it's a quality issue...
