Octavia 4x4 estate lift kit?

Featured Replies

Hi everyone.

After a very depressing 10 months away from skoda ownership I'm very excited to announce I'm picking up an immaculate 2006 octavia 4x4 1.9tdi estate on friday!

I'm not mechanically minded and unable to bodge together something that might work (also I'd like something done professionally)

So far I've looked high and low for a lift kit for this car.

And I've found...... some strut spacers?

Would this be adequate? Would they do a decent job or would I rather throw the best part of £100 quid away and save my back the grief?

Any information would be great!

Cheers!

It would help if we knew what you were trying to achieve. Do you want more ground clearance for some reason and if so how much?

I'm looking for more ground clearance yes.  Only 3-4 inches. It will spend most of its life on road but occasionally venture off of it and I'd like it to be mildly capable.

I know I will then need larger tyres and that will be the next piece of the puzzle to work out.

The largest wheels supplied with the Octavia 2 are 18", so bear that in mind when considering clearances in wheel arches etc.

Thanks tech1e 😂

I wondered why Ebay kept taking me to dirty pages when looking for an extra 3-4 inches... 🤔

Cheers stickymicky

I'll check out the link when I'm a bit more awake later on. It looks a tad confusing at the moment but I'm sure it will make sense after a few coffees!

3-4 inches is HUGE!  You won't get that without major engineering changes

On a Scout, the lift is only ~30mm (1.25") . 15mm is the tyres and 15mm is springs.

You can probably fudge another 25mm with spacers but you'll start running into issues with drive shaft angle, steering arm angle, bump steer, roll centre changes, wheel alignment settings ,etc

You'll gain 15mm by fitting either 225/55r16 or 225/50r17 tyres.  Beyond that will probably require speedometer recalibration.  On my 2007 Octy 225/50r17 are a 100kph actual =100kph indicated fitment.

Some Scout springs should lift it a bit more.  Lesjofors springs have a good reputation.

front partno 4085719

rear partno 4285730

You could probably also fit Superb or Passat springs.

If you go much beyond 20mm lift in the springs then the struts will reach full extension too often.

While you are at it you may as well fit the Scout off-road package with all the underbody protection.

Seriously, if you wanted 200mm ground clearance (which is what you are aiming for) then why didn't you buy something fit for purpose?  It would be cheaper in the long term unless you like tinkering.

edit: It would be a good idea to check the PR code of your springs.  HD suspension is rear 1JB & fron 2UB

Just my two cents; keep in mind the extra stress that's going to put on your suspension. Your driveshafts specifically are going to be under a lot more stress now considering the angle they have to deliver power at when lifted that much.

If the reduction in suspension lifetime doesn't bother got them by all means go for it, haven't seen to many lifted ones!
