Oil sensor failure

Featured Replies

Is it safe to keep driving the car, as I have to drive not only to work, but to Macclesfield in Cheshire and Nottingham.

OBD11 says that it's a temperature circuit, I've driven it to/from work and the fault has failed to appear, so it's an intermittent one. But would it cause issues with motorway driving?

No problem.

Thanks.

I take it, it won't go into limp home mode.

Did the journey and the car performed perfectly, not a sign of the fault.

Bloody typical now I've booked it in for rectification it's not showing any issues with the sensor. 👿

Is it still booked in to be looked at?

Oh yes... The earliest I can get anywhere is September 30th!

Bloody ridiculous. Still it'll be a warranty job and if there's any damage to the engine it'll be down to Skoda to deal with.

Try not to worry. I don't think any systems rely on the oil temperature signal so no harm should be done.

Cheers bud. 🙏

I had this on my Superb. SKoda assist came out within 2 hours and replaced the sensor. Never had a problem after that. May be easier to call Skoda breakdown than taking to the dealer.

Skoda Assist came out, plugged their OBD device into the car and guess what two faults, both had no codes, two faults which had been deleted which probably happened when a mate plugged in his laptop with VCDS and did a diagnostic scan and initially found the fault, which almost immediately disappeared again 🤔.

But the Skoda Assist (RAC) man couldn't find any fault or as we call it on the railway NFF (No Fault Found), so couldn't do anything about it.

That  appearance and disappearance has happened with OBD11 except this time I got the screen shot of it on my mobile as proof of its existence to the techs at Garland's, I still worry about it causing damage.

Now it's flagging up a fault on the security system (emergency alarm sensor failure). TBQH this car is really ****ing me off, there are too many glitches in it.

I'm so peed off with it that I'm considering chucking it back, terminating my deal and going to either BMW or Jaguar.

Ah that makes sense, the old NFF. I’d persevere with it. Ironically i’m Waiting on my octy to be delivered now after leaving Skoda and buying a JLR product (Discovery Sport). Trust me your Skoda can’t possibly have had as many problems as that. I’m now good friends with the AA. Had my fair share of issues with bMW’s as well though.

i work in IT and software glitches are notoriously slow to fix and all the tech in new cars is pushed out pretty quickly now so more issues.
