Replacing Fuel Filter Clip - Botch

Featured Replies

So I broke the clip that attaches the fuel line to the front end of the fuel filter.......

The clip actually took the end off the filter as well so was never going to be reused. So I purchased a new clip:

My line has inner diameter of 5.5mm.

I fitted the new connector to the existing line on the car using a block of wood with a hole in it, split in half and a caulk gun and grip clamp. The pictures do not show the fuel line but you have it in the middle of the block tight enough to hold onto it but not so hard to crush it.

I used a tiny dab of light grease and squeezed the connector in. No leaks on idling or reving the engine on driveway but time will tell if it is secure....

Did... did.. did you not read the dozens of threads on this expressly stating, repeatedly "be careful with the clips, they're really easy to break"

I mean really now. That is just very poor spannering, and a waste of this internet resource if youre not going to heed the basic warnings given...

Nb... tongue firmly in cheek :D

nice bodge though, hopefully it works!

I'm hoping it won't happen again with the new clip as it has a much more obvious and functioning release mechanism!
