2016 Superb AdBlue Warning

Featured Replies

I’ve got a 2016 Skoda Superb with the 190bhp Diesel engine and 22,000 miles on the clock. The vehicle was registered new in April 2016.

Yesterday I parked it up with the AdBlue range showing 4,000 miles left. Set off today and after 2 miles a warning came on the maxidot screen saying the AdBlue Range was 650 miles after which the engine wouldn’t start. 4,000 miles is probably accurate with doing about 5,000 miles since last filling it up. Full it showed 10,000 mile range.

Anyway I decided to fill it back up and put 10L in the AdBlue tank and then performed the 30 second reset procedure.

The warning is still on and the range has now dropped to 600 miles.

Has anyone else experienced this and was it a cheap or expensive fix?

About 12 months ago the car had a recall due to the AdBlue range not counting down.

See this thread Adblue Issue .  I think the most common solution was a software update or new ECU/EMU (same thing???).  My summary is that there are a lot of posts about  dealers "messing about" with the Adblue tank and pump/injection system before the software solution is implemented

Thanks for that. I had a root around the forums before posting this but could only find posts from a few years ago.

Was supposed to be trading this in last week for a new Octavia VRS 245 Challenge but it arrived from the factory with the wrong interior. Wish I had got that now instead of my deposit back!!

Had a good read of that and hope to get it in to the dealer when I get back from my jollies. Just thought there’d be some more recent posts about it but thanks for the link.

Just experiencing this myself.  Mine is an error and doesn't give me any top-up totals, so going to try and get it booked in.  Down to 600 miles before engine won't start.  Any luck with yours @Comfortably_Numb?  I'm rather hoping it's simply a software fix as warranty is out (although did have foresight to get extended warranty, I only organised that last week so won't be active for a month).

I have read that it can sometimes clear itself, but I never have luck quite that good, so best to get it in I suppose!

Mine just went back to normal one day when I turned the ignition on. I was waiting for the tone and symbol on the dash and it didn’t come. It went into Skoda but they couldn’t find a fault or any history of a fault stored in the memory. Skoda wanted it back to do some further tests but I’ve since sold the car.
