Search, just this section?

Featured Replies

Hi,

Is it possible to just search this Octavia section? I'm looking for oils and obviously doing a search for oil brings up loads and loads of posts. So is it possible for me to narrow it down to just the Mk1 Octavia section in any way? I can't see any options in the search

Cheers

Vijay

Someone might help if a google of 'Briskoda octavia mk1 oil'  does not show what you want.

?

Why not just say what you want to know, asking which oil for which engine and an answer will come from someone that knows.

Just for the simple reason I didn't want to ask a question that's probably been asked and answered before, without searching first ;)

Thanks for the tip with Google :)

If you now ask and get an answer then it might help someone that is searching for 'Search, just this section', and also wants to know about oil.

Thank you, that post shows exactly how to do it :)

I really need to make time to do an oil change. Just wondered what you knowledgeable guys would recommend for engine oil and filter for an Octavia 1.9 Tdi 110?

Anything to stay away from?

Cheers

Vijay

Whats your engine code and year? As i seem to recall a couple of different 110bhp variants (some with and some without variable vane turbos)

81KW ASV - is that the code you mean? It's a 2004

Quantum Platinum.

Very good value on eBay.

5w30 type.

As to manufacturer - as wino says.

Just double check it meets the vw spec for the engine.. should be in the manual.

The 110 isn’t as fussy over engine oil as a PD. I’d imagine it’s on fixed so I’d go for a 5w40 over a 5w30.

Quantum Platinum is a good choice as is ECPs Triple QX.

Someone else said that to me, that the non PD isn't as fussy. What do you mean by "it's in fixed"?

I'm happy to go get 5/30 or 40, but can I just ask would using 10/40 semi be a bad bad idea? The only reason I ask is I already have some in my garage.

Also, any filters to stay away from?

Typo, I meant 'on fixed' as in fixed service regime (10,000 miles/12 months).

I'm sure it won't die if you use 10w40 semi.

Great. I'll probably do every 6 months as I run on bio. It's mostly motorway miles that I do too , so no real start stopping.
