Wiper comes on when I start the car??

Featured Replies

I swear it’s one thing after another with this car. After the battery died now when I go to start the car in the morning every time the rear wiper comes on just once?? It feels like the cars battery is draining because of it I don’t know. Is the battery faulty or is there a dodgy fuse involved. Has anyone had this problem with the 2010 fabia vrs?

yes mine has always done this. Also sometimes decides not to come on for 10- 15mins when i need it too

Oh not good lol. I’ve noticed it’s because the battery isn’t charged properly I think as it’s like it’s struggling to start sometimes. Looks like I might need a new battery

mine turns the rear wiper when the battery its low

Surely the altinator should charge the battery when driving?

mine comes on when i have it on reverse.

^^^ Has engineered / designed to do.

yes in the ideal world, but it must be a good battery that will "accept" a charge, if the battery is old and faulty, then does not matter how good the alternator is, each time the battery may simply be charged to the same state.

9 years out of them is not bad, some were needing replaced a few years back on the early cars, some will go on the long time mister.

Agreed, I think mine is original...........if I leave my dash cam connected in the garage for a week or so it will flatten it enough to not start it. One thing I need to replace "before" the cold winter comes as that will finish of any battery and 99% of the time..... its a very inconvenient time when it happens

My Rear Wiper wouldnt activate this morning but was spraying OK

I nudged the wiper to the left when got to work as it felt 'under tension' and it started moving again.  Must be a component sticking inside

You just need to swap your 12v sockets onto a switched 12V position in the the fuse box. My daughter had the same problem problem after fitting a dashcam. No problem now.

Yeah could do, does not happen often, I always remember to unplug, but the wife don't!!!

Cars not used very much to be honest.
