Towbar fuses - fridge use for pins 10/11 of Euro sicket

Featured Replies

Anyone know which car fuse is the one for the fridge electrics on pin 10 on the euro 13. I thought I previously had power but at the moment I dont so I'm assuming a fuse. I've used a multimeter on 10/11 and theres no power with the engine running.

There is only one fuse for the towbar socket, #22.

Is your towbar factory fitted, or aftermarket?

If there is power to the other pins then the fault is elsewhere.

If it's an aftermarket towbar then chances are it hasn't been fitted / wired / coded correctly.

It's a factory fit. The initial problem was caused by a rusted caravan 13 pin plug which shorted things out and blew a couple of fuses in the van and one in the car ( think it was 44).  The fuses listed as 'Towing hitch' in my manual are 22,28,38 and 44. Those are all good (44 had blown which I replaced) but still no power from pin 10 so wondered if anyone knew exactly which one would supply it.

I believe the fridge pin 10 is only live with the engine running so I'm assuming it's controlled by the ECU. My concern is that but it's an ECU fault

Have you definitely had power for the fridge before? I only ask because it was an optional extra when I fitted my Westfalia tow bar. The power for the fridge and battery charging was fed from a separate fuse and relay and had in-line fuses and was supposed to be connected directly to the battery.

It might be worth taking the trim off in the boot where the towing control module will be and looking to see if there are any more fuses

It's more if an assumption based on it being factory fit and having previously towed with fridge on and the battery still being charged on arrival. This time the battery was completely flat and no power from pin 10.

Which pin provided the general 12v supply to the van - is it 9 (which I believe should be permanent live and 10 is switched on with engine running)?

Yea, 9 is permanent and 10 is switched. If it has been fitted at the factory Skoda should be able to supply the information on where everything is fed from as it should be a textbook install.

I don't think you will have damaged anything, I'm presuming its a similar set-up to aftermarket where the ignition live just energises a relay for the switched 12v supply. Hopefully its just another fuse hidden somewhere.

Thanks for the help! No access to a multimeter until tomorrow. I'll check 9 as well as 10 and then see
