Felicia front struts

Featured Replies

Hi,

Apparently the Felicia is prone to problems with the front struts that require excessive attention.

Does anyone know what these are?

It's just that I have noticed a few clonks from the front that don't sound right to me and I wondered if this may be a problem with the struts.

Many thanks,

Chris.

It has been known for the spring platform to come away from the damper strut due to corrosion.

Hi

I had this on my Felicia.

The spring went through the cup.

It then was rubbing on the tyre.

So you do have to keep an eye on them.

But these will be an MOT failure so they should be picked up on

Favorits was the same.

But IIRC they are the same shocker

I had the same problem with my felicia. It had just been into the garage for its MOT in the morning and advised on the dampers. later that night, the spring had came through the damper cup and was grinding on the tyre as i was driving, luckily i just missed a blowout.

Thanks for all the replies.

From what's been said I doubt I have problem with the struts.

I think it would probably sound a lot worse than it does. Perhaps there's just some play in the wishbones or calipers that's causing the noises?

Good to be aware of the problems that may occur though. Thanks again.

Id say the bottom balljoints are more than likely the culprit of knockings.

Yes, quite likely. I have seen fully populated wishbones for about £25. Do you agree it would be better to renew the whole assembly rather than just replace the balljoints which would need to be drilled out.

My other thought is maybe wear in the CV joints. There is no 'clicking' noise on full lock which I know is a normal indication of wear, but I have noticed (with the front jacked up) that there is some free play in the wheel before the driveshaft turns. This may well be normal - I'm not sure?

Sounds normal to me.

But yes id change the complete wishbone.
