Recommended wiper brands, suppliers?

Featured Replies

I'm due a wiper refresh on both our Octy estates (2007 mk2) soon so I've been looking at what's available.

Offerings seem to fall into three areas:

1) Bosch genuine at twice the price of everything else

2) Pattern from various sources ranging from 1/3 to 1/2 the price of Bosch and as far as I can tell from the descriptions all about the same.

Any recommendations out there, please?

I replaced the original front and rear wipers when they were seven years old. I fitted Bosch AT Set AM980S (£35) on the front and Halfords Rear Flat W101 (£10) on the rear. Five years later, they're all still going strong. 👍

Try wiperblades.co.uk ; you'll normally score free rear blade at worst from them.

I just fitted bosch aerotwins from eurocarparts in mine.

They normally have discount codes so a full set is about £25 at the moment using SALE55.

Any reason you went for the 'multi clip' ones Stuart??? (can you remember, Lol).

They are £49 now. These say 'flat type' but the A937S set states 'standard type'. Anyone know the difference???

I need some too.

Cheers

I don't remember there being a choice. I expect I looked up what was supposed to be the correct version for my year of Octy and bought that. I bought Bosch for the front because I thought they'd last longer, I bought Halfords for the rear as that was what they had (and I needed it for the, already booked, MoT).

Which is interesting, since the rear wiper (if fitted) is not part of the MoT.

Having used Bosch and 3rd party wipers I will always go for Bosch. I found that they work much better and leave a clearer screen and let's face it £25 difference over 5 years works out at £5/year for better vision when already in a potentially poor visibility scenario.

cheap and cheerful from Wilkinson's on the front and whoever supplies the cheapest off the internet on the rear for me never had a problem.

Thanks to all for the input; I opted in the short term for a Bosch rear wiper from Europarts discounted at 55% (thanks @langers2k) for the grey car and - as the blue car doesn't need wipers immediately - I've decided to try a set from aliexpress at just over 11 squid.  I'll report back once they've arrived and been put to use.

Got a full set of aerotwins for my octy about 3weeks ago. Been through all the cheaper versions over the years, and splashed out this time. Took about 5seconds per blade to change instead of 5mins faffing about with all the different clips etc.. and compared to the last set of "not expensive" blades i put on the insignia i'll spend the little bit extra for bosch from now on. No dragging/missing areas and way better clearing.

I've tried Valeo (IIRC), ones from The Range, Lidl's 'Ultimate Speed' (took ages to fit ironically) and various others in the past.
I always spend a few quid extra now for Bosch Aerotwin blades.

Muchos gracias :D

I bought a rear wiper blade from my local dealer at around £9 albeit it was 2 years ago .... Front I've used 2 lots of cheaper blades with multi adaptors and it's a pain getting them to lock onto the blade and the fitting hole on one pair was extremely tight with one being on the large side resulting in a bit of wobble the current blades are Bosch from Halfords which are a direct fit and took seconds to fit.... It took longer getting the old ones off as they were the tight fitting ones .... If my memories right the current ones were I believe £25 with my trade card ...
