0-60 how to measure

Featured Replies

As an aside - I gave an older model custom motor bike (with a GPS digital speedo with all the clever measuring functionality) this same 0-60 and 1/4 mile treatment and then limped home with broken flywheel bolts.

Not a pretty sight.

Are you saying my car will break if I try and do 0-60 as fast as the car was designed to go?

It might not break. Or it might.

But as already stated above, to achieve maximum 0-60 or standing 1/4 mile times, you have to be very brutal with the revs, tyres, clutch and gear changes. Are you willing to be brutal with your daily shopping trolley ?

The press don’t buy their own cars like wot we do  😀

How about using a goPro?

Go Pro and a calibrated speedo, or just know when it is doing 60 or 62 mph would be good.

I’m still waiting for the ‘elephant in the room’ discussion on launch techniques. DSG, just send it. Manual...

0-60 times are about as relevant as dyno figures imho!

& Dyno figures as irelevant as WLTP / RDE figures if done in cars with just a driver,

if you are into traffic light Grand Prix's (Grand Pr!c*s) with boys and girls from the hood acting as seat covers.

ie people and stuff in the car.

Dyno's are great for a print out and boasting on Dyno runs with a car strapped down and no allowance for not great road surface or tyres,

but really does not give an idea if TC on or Off or launch control or not is worth bothering with.

Re DSG vs Manual,

take a nearly new car, Media car, Demonstrator that you do not own, and thrash it and see what is more consistent.

**In all my DSG's wet or dry when sticking it in S i move the stick back from D to S,

if i want it in Manual shift i stick it across to manual, maybe still floor it and make the box shift, but it is in manual and i am forcing it to shift.**

If you think that’s bad don’t look at my project thread to see what mine goes through
