0-60 how to measure

Featured Replies

I know, I know, not the most important measure of performance but since I had my Octy 2.0 TDI remapped it goes like stink (when it's not regen-ing!). So how would one go about (fairly) accurately measuring a 0-60 run – on a private road of course ;)

Cheapest/Easiest would be to have a passenger with a stopwatch time you.

Next least expensive option would be a cheap ODBII bluetooth dongle (around £15 from Amazon ELM 327) plugged into the diagnostics port and the Torque app (around £3 ) and get it to measure your 0-60 time

Does the Skoda app not have a 0-60 feature you can use though Car Play?

Ulysse speedometer is what I've used. Just plonk your phone in a holder and turn it on when stationary.

Does 0-60, 0-100 and 1/4 mile. Doing the 0-60 test a few times means you need to shut and reopen the app a few times as it's going to be expecting to clock the 0-100 and the 1/4 mile result as well (but if you're on private land, go nuts).

It's fairly accurate I feel, iirc standard best 0-60 was 7.6 seconds and then the best 0-60 with the most aggressive settings (tuning and pedal boxes) and dry roads was 6.4 seconds.

Makes more sense to measure the 0-62 mph / 0-100kph if you are measuring

I reckon it will do 0-62 in about 7 seconds 🤔

Film your Speedo and examine the video for the time difference?

Oooh, I like it ... science

Remembering that 60 or 62 on your speed is likely 56 or 58 mph depending on the tyres size and tyre pressue.

Borrow a V-Box.

All the gear and he cant even be bothered his arse to decide if measuring 0-60 or 0-62.

He should have tried that in a 1.4 TSI with 5 in the car and told us how it did.

Even better tried a Manual 1.5 TSI EVO with the Australian Characteristics.

@vRSWitter That's why the aforementioned app is good as it uses the gps in your phone to get a fairly accurate result.

Fairly accurate is just that 'fairly'  not worth quoting, when talking around 7 seconds. difference between Ooo and Ahhh or yawnnnn.

Don't, unless you want to break your car. The methods used by the Guild of Muttering Rotters are brutal.

Best way to get the fastest time is to give it to somebody who won't be paying for a new clutch and DMF in years to come.

That'll be me then ;)

I think this would have been a more meaningful experiment if you were doing a before and after test using the same measuring technique.

Just do it over and over again! Forget all the losers that say dont do it, it will break your car, it's illegal blah blah blah. Bore off saddos, set up the torque app and go nuts!!! Photos and videos please! Obviously do it somewhere suitable, not outside the local school hahahahahha private road ideally but either way just have fun doing it

Is it DSG? You're not going to break anything launching it a few times. I've found Drag Racer the most consistent app, just make sure satellite accuracy is up around 95%

vbox every single time, none of the phone apps as they only have a 1hz reciever.

You have the option in the apple car play or android auto skoda oneapp.

It start timer automatically when you accelerate. Should be pretty accurate.

did it several times, nice option in the app.

@ccosmin does it mean that just AA phone + OneApp will be able to get those data?

Can you please shed more light?
