OBD11 pro version gives you just a bit less functionality of VCDS,but unless you're a professional or tech then I think that it gives you more than enough functionality to get things done and it's much easier to use and understand, very polished.

My car went in today and there's a single fault found on the oil pressure sensors, but they've checked out as working perfectly on test, the alarm fault is nothing untoward or worry about, the Gateway one is down to the power adapter.

 

Been told that if the fault recurs, to take a photo of it and do another scan, then book it in for further investigation, but that will take two days to complete as they effectively do a complete hard reset which means that they disconnect it from the battery for 24h so it loses all memory and then reinstate it and do fault finding to find the fault.

Interesting. Was this via a main dealer and was it a pressure test that they undertook?

 

I've ordered obd11 pro, so will give it a scan when I receive it and post any findings here.

No idea what testing they undertook.

 

At the moment the car is behaving itself.  🤞

Update... Took it to the garage, they clean the contacts on the senors, said it could be a faulty sensor. They did mention that the dash doesn't display oil temp until 50, I don't know if this is standard though? So, problem still exists.

 

Had the warning again a further two times now, all shortly after starting the car once engine temp has warmed up.

 

Decided to go ahead and purchase obd11, which found the code PD164D00, which I cleared. All good for a bit, then came back with the same error, so at least I can pinpoint the error.

 

Has anyone else experience this PD164D00 error code?

Normal for oil temperature not to display below 50.

But oil temperature is a completely separate system to oil pressure, and it looks like your scan is narrowing down which pressure switch to focus on.

Will have another look at circuits tomorrow and see what I can do.

Right, wiring diagram describes F378 as 'oil pressure switch for reduced oil pressure'. It has a black/green wire going to it from engine ECU pin 72 of the 105-way connector.

See if you can find this anywhere on the engine. Possibly near the oil filter.

Yep, usually screwed in. 

My oil sensor failure has returned. Not helpful when I'm going to St Omer tomorrow. 😪

Yours is 'just' oil temperature though, yeah? Not pressure?

If you can eyeball it decisively, see what colour the body of the switch is.

Parts catalogue lists 3, differentiated by pressure rating and colour. Can give you the right part number if you can tell me the colour. Green or Brown I think.

It just says oil sensor. Sometimes it says about high temperature, which is usually impossible as it usually (but not always) occurs just after the car has just started!

 

Car now booked in to Garlands for a hard reset which is basically a complete disconnect and left for 12hrs completely without power and then a factory restart.

 

Which is going to really pee me off as I'll have to redo all of the tweaks to the VC, TSR, throttle responses etc. 😔

Seems incredibly primitive as a strategy, and timewasting.

 

They say that they will then reinstate the systems one by one to find the defective one and then replace or repair it.

 

I don't care too much as it's all done under the warranty.

Looks like number 4 is brown on mine.

 

 

It's been a few weeks, since then I've replaced the number 4 (brown) sensor with a genuine Skoda replacement. 

Drove 50 miles. Stopped to go to shops and the dreaded pinging came back on. Arrrggghh!

 

I've taken a long journey down to Devon and in two weeks it's done it about 3 times.

 

I'm going to try replacing the oil filter next.

 

Does anyone have any further suggestions?

 

Just as an update to anyone that is experiencing similar issues...

Took it to a VW specialist today and they have confirmed a cracked oil filter housing.

I'm hoping the replacement housing will resolve the issue, will update after a few weeks.

Mine apparently is a wiring problem. 

 

It's going in for a week to sort this problem plus...

 

Central door locking motor failure (driver side (repeat failure))

Sat nav /infotainment system errors (keeps telling me I'm in 1970!) Plus comms/bluetooth issues. 

 

Camera failure 

HBA Failure 

Lane Assist Failure 

ACC Failure 

Dynamic Sign Failure. 

 

There are currently 11 sets of faults and failures on this 💩 heap.

Hello, is there any update to this topic please I'm having the exact same issue.

 

Ever since I did my oil service a year ago same exact thing. I've changed oil pressure switches 2x, filter, filter housing updated to the newer type with return valve. the next step os to remove the sump and pickup.

 

One odd thing I have noticed is that when the fault comes on and I press the interior heating it turns the fault off I'm guessing from the slightly higher revs.
