sudden fail

Featured Replies

the speedo and rev counter has failed on a 58 plate vrs have checked fuses and relays cant find anything any ideas?

I had this happen on my old Vectra and it turned out to be the big plug on top of the ABS pump/controller under the bonnet. Popped it off, contact cleaner spray, then worked it on and off a few times and it was cured. I guess the signal to the dash comes via the ABS sensors.

this may or may not relate to a Skoda, but its surely worth a try if there is a similar plug in place.

As its a 58 plate, id say its actually a mk2 vrs?

Either way, there is a history of dry solder joints on the mcb in the instrument cluster causing similar issues.

Theres threads on how to remove and "reflow" the solder which has fixed the issue for people in the past.
