Change of headunit for smartlink

Featured Replies

Hello all, would anyone know by looking at the attached pic whether this headunit has smartlink installed? Thanks.

No it doesn't.

Edit: But then again I'm not so sure now... My memory fails me sometimes.

If Smartlink compatible whether it is installed or not will just be in the software nothing on the outside of unit until it's run up.

I don't really know anything about the head units, but looking as a computer techy there doesn't appear to be a Wifi Mac address showing on the label; that implies there is no WiFi hardware - I believe smartlink would need Wifi - or does smartlink work over bluetooth?

Smartlink is a usb cable feature.

Oh! I was way off then!

I'm pretty sure the B rev supports smartlink with both android auto and carplay. As mentioned above, just because the hardware supports it doesn't mean it's been activated, you'd need to turn it on to check.

If you connect this radio to a Yeti that already has a MIB style headunit unit, it'll lock immediately and loose all activation due to component protection (CP). A dealer should be to sort CP but you'll probably have to pay for smartlink as your VIN won't have that activation.

If you connect it to an earlier Yeti that had a RCD/RNS style headunit, you'll get 8 hours use before CP locks it.

Might be worth asking @pab567 if you're looking for one :)
