Heating on Citigo

Featured Replies

Hullo, I have been trying to switch my car from cooling to heating but the air coming through the vents remains cold.  Any ideas of what I am doing wrong?   Advice would be very much appreciated.  Thank you.   Janett

Of course engine needs to be warm. That's where heater gets the heat. If it still doesn't work there might be something wrong inside the heater. 🤔

Edit: Or if engine thermostat is stuck open then engine can't reach operating temperature. And heater cannot heat as it doesn't get warm water from the engine.

Thank you, Emil.  I will be doing a longer journey (25 miles) in a day or two so will see what happens then.  Regards.  Janett

You get more warmer feeling if you turn heat flow down to the floor. But if carpet is wet you get steamy windows. So better turn the flow to windscreen and to floor at the same time. When engine is warm you can turn blower to 3rd speed to get more heat. When you have enough warm turn temperature knob to colder. Keep blower speed at 2nd or 3rd to keep windows clear. Do not use air circulation but take fresh air from outside.

You should be getting some heat through within 4 miles. Have you got a PID? If so, check how quickly the engine is warming up on the temperature gauge. If the engine is not getting up to temperature quickly, you probably have a thermostat problem, if it is and there is still no heat through the heater, there is either a problem with water flow to the heater matrix or the air flow is not being directed through the heater.

Thank you - have been unwell this last week so haven't tried the suggestions yet. I think some heat started to come through last time I drove. Will check when well again and follow the advice if I still have a problem. Meantime, many thanks. Janett.
