Combi build

Featured Replies

I've just got around to junking the standard Skoda HU for a JVC KD-G502 that I got from a local scrapyard (yep, I'm cheap :))

I've fitted the Halfrauds adaptor which works ok and I've just realised I need a male/female adaptor for the aerial - another trip to town, dammit.

The JVC unit is a sloppy fit in the dash even with the Autoloeads facia adaptor, do I also need to use the cage that came with the JVC?

Finally - and most importantly, I sort of remember seeing a boot build in a combi on these pages - the stowage compartments behind both wheel arches were modded and fitted with speakers and it looked pretty good.

Anyone done this? Any photos? Any links?

I also want to use the line-in facility on this HU for my ipod. But when I connect the ipod to the little black lead with the jackplug and select line-in in the menu nothing happens ... can anyone shed some light please?

Words of one sylable please as I am complete novice with ICE.

I did mine some time ago. Here are some pics of what it used to look like... now theres new amps, new cabling and a new HU. I've installed my system to have a quick-removal capability as there are times I need to have the full loading capacity of the car (including the seats being put down)

Thanks for that, I too want to have the ability to remove everything in a few mins.

The fabia combi build I saw originally had a moulding made of the inside of that rear panel in glassfibre(?) and a large speaker set into it and it looked like it could be removed once the wires were disconnected ... a bit like a bath with a board over it and a speaker set in it to act as bass bins.

A bit like this

Has any of you had any exp. installing speakers in the back of the combi? Is it a difficult job, or can it be done in a mther of hours?
