Acrylic as a induction heat shield

Im trying to make a heat shield for my 2.0 vrs.

Would Acrylic be suitable  i have some about 8mm thick.

I know the melting temp is 160 degrees c.

Any help would be appreciated.

I think i would personally prefer to use Alu. Bit easier to work with as well. 

 

Could be a shout to find out what plastic the engine covers etc are and their respective melting points?
