Its DSG

I have the 1.5 engine, albeit manual, but after my experience I would not touch anything manual or dsg with the 1.5 engine. You have been warned. 😓

Find yourself a spare couple of days, and read through the threads entitled '1.5 SEL first gear issue' and 'Karoq software update. Progress report', then make up your mind.

My experience is very different. 18months and 15,000 miles without any issue. A "torquey" engine that works extremely well with the DSG.

Seconded. For such a heavy car it goes very well.

My Ambition 1.5 TSI DSG 4x4 is now at about 5000 km and still enthusing.  😋

Thanks for the comments. I’ve read through the kangarooing posts and will mention to the dealer and ask about relevant software updates. As I understand it, if I mention the issue and they tell me they are aware of it, then I still should have the option to formally reject the car should I experience it and they can’t fix it.

Can an I ask what MPG people are getting from this engine?

My first 5000 km average is 36 mpg, but it's a 4x4 and I live in a hilly country, not taming the right foot when going uphill.

Very little urban driving though and no winter temperatures yet.

On a 46 mile trip to the main supermarket and back which consists of 10 miles single track road and 36 miles A class main road + tourists visiting the Highlands the average is usually around 45 mpg, the mileage is 3800 and the 1.5TSI had the hesitation update in April, still thinking about whether to get the latest 24EU update applied as the Karoq never had the full blown Kangaroo problem to start with as I don't want any new problems/bugs intoduced into the system following that 24EU update.

Had the 1.5 TSi DSG 16 months and never missed a beat.

My commute is circa 10 miles and it varies from low 30's to low 40's, depending on time of day and temperature. Best I have seen on a run is 47mpg. It matches WLTP figures. Don't expect equivalent car mpg.

I concur with this with a minor caveat that I can on longer motorway runs get (best was 57) of 50 - 53mpg but you need to be happy tootling along at 65mph. Weather and wind depending...

For me I have actually found the drop from my usual ways of 80mph quite relaxing as you have less idiots playing fast lane up your arse roulette...

It has not massively affected journey times....

So expect maybe 400 miles from a tank or upto 500 if you are a bit more relaxed...

YMMV...

So far so good with the 1.5. DSG 4 x 4, MPG given most of my driving is motorway and the car park known as Bristol I usually get mid 30s.  The Karoq like the others of the SUV class are as about as aerodynamic as a politician so no complaints so far.
