Some Questions for 6Y2 Fabia

Featured Replies

Hi all,

I have some question for 6y2 fabia, that i newly bought.

Mine is 1.2 htp version.

1-) i want to change the radio screen, what do you suggest me? (i need touchscreen and bluetooth)

2-) i recently noticed, my fron door's speakers changed with pioneer ones. But my rear doors doesn't have any speakers. Can i fit something and if yes what do you recommend?

3-) BEA400002 is have include cruise control stick + cable + instruction? If yes, i will order from local official service.

4-) Can i upgrade my front disk and brakes? Standarts ones feel weak for me. Rears are not disk brake but it is ok for me.

5-) My car is now about has 192.xxx km and still have original suspension. After a short look, 9n polo suspension doesn't fit for Fabia I. For ETKA, 9n polo has some economic parts such as brake pads, disk, absorbers and wiper blades, but i think economic suspensions for 9n polo (start with JZW.. part number) doesn't fit Fabia I. Can you correct this? Or can you suggest some cheaper pairs of suspension?

6-) Car's right mirror smaller than right (i am npt living U.K) and it is annoying me because i am 183 cm high and sometimes i cannot clearly see from right mirror, can i change it bigger one? For example golf mk.4's mirrors will fit Fabia mk.1?

7-) I have front doors lpcking mechanism failure. Sometimes doors not lock sometimes don't open properly sometimes roof light doesn't work well. As i investigate, front door's lock switch broken and then these happen. Almost every fabia haa that problem as i understand. Can you suggest me change another car's door lock that doesn't have this problem such as 9n polo or golf or sth? I don't want small fixes because i am planning 4 or 5 years i will continue to ride this cheap car.

8-)  What is your opinion of BME code engine? Is it reliable, durable? Has a long life working cicyle? Have any common issue?

Sorry for my English, i am not a native speaker.

Thanks.

1) Go for it.

2) Do you sit in the back while listening to the stereo?

3) Parts, yes, instructions, no there are instructions on this forum if you search.

4) You can fit better quality discs and pads, check the servo pipe for vacuum leaks, this is common and affects braking effort.

5) 9N Polo parts will fit the Fabia, they have identical running gear.

6) Fabias have small wing mirrors, i agree it's annoying. Golf mirrors will not fit.

7) Buy and fit a new lock module.

8( BME engine is OK, occasional cam chain tensioner failure leading to chain jump and a head wreck.

4) are the front brakes 239mm with FSII calipers or 256mm with FSIII?

As i know, its FSII.

Those cars have the same poor lock switch design. It's not just Skoda.

Maybe change to 256/FSIII then.

Surely you'd need longer caliper carriers for the larger discs?

Might need to change wheel-bearing housing too, maybe. This page lists different suffix  (AG) for 1LB (239mm) PR-code to the 1LQ/1LR (AC) that have 256mm discs https://skoda.7zap.com/en/cz/fabia/fab/2005-453/4/407-407010/

I suppose that's the difference? Makes sense.

I guess, looks like more trouble than it's worth for a very measly upgrade.

I'd tend to agree, now that you've pointed out the extent of the change.

On the other hand, the OP is talking about changing the suspension too, so could just swap in whole strut assemblies off a 256 car.

Ok, i will go for original ones. On the other hand, can you confirm the 9n polo's suspension will fit?

2) You can fit speakers on sides of the parcel shelf

Better yet from a 288 car if the driveshafts will fit.

Visit and familiarise  yourself with parts websites like 7zap.com or nemigaparts.com, then you can look up part numbers of interest for each car. Same part number = same part.

The problem is when i checked from ETKA, Polo 9n's parts has different part numbers for Fabia. 6Y Fabia's original suspensions part codes ONLY suitable for Fabia up to 2015.

Another site you may find useful is oemwolf.com

Put part numbers in there (without spaces), and it'll give you superseding part numbers if there are any. for item 4 above, one is a supersedence of the other.
