Starting difficulties..

Featured Replies

Good afternoon all

I own a 1.4petrol Fabia(2002), which recently has become more difficult to start.

Over the years it has on occasion taken two turns of the ignition to start car up, the first turn would result in nothing more than a mechanical 'click'& then on the second go absolutely fine.

This is now becoming a more frequent occurence, but is now requiring several attempts to start & then runs 'as normal'

I know that on occasion the battery will go flat, as the car is not used very much, but this 'sympton' I don't think is anything to do with the battery?

Any help/advice is greatly appreciated

Cheers,

Tom

It sounds like you have hit the critical junction between a failing battery and an aging starter motor, the seasonal temperature drop has accentuated this.

Replacing both would be ideal but the battery is much, much cheaper and easier and will keep the car going over the winter.
