Cam belt change at what mileage?

Featured Replies

Interested to know at what mileagee my cam belt will need changing

Octavia estate 2.0 tdi SE L 2016 My mileage is 63k at present - only owned car for less than 2 months

It has FSH

Do handbooks still list scheduling for different service checks

Thanks

Generally agreed on here to be 5 years or 100k miles for UK market. Changes depending on where you are. Also a good idea to the water pump done at the same time. If your pump goes in the mean time (possible due to issues with thermostatic valve) then get the belt done at the same time as it needs to come off anyway.

It may be “generally agreed” on here, but SUK specify 140,000 miles or 5 years whichever comes first.

I termed it like that as it has changed in the past. The 'current' advice must be as you say.

The first rule about online forums, don't ask what your cambelt mileage interval is.

The timing is set, at least here in the UK, 5 years.

But the mileage isn't. It varies by model, engine, model year and a number of other aspects.

Two apparently identical cars can have different intervals.

The only way to know for sure (and even this is debatable), is to contact Skoda UK direct, quoting your VIN (the number visible through the windscreen under the passenger side wiper blade)...

They'll try and palm you off to your local Skoda retailer (dealer), but just tell them you've had conflicting information, and you'd like to have it in writing from Skoda UK.
