Vrs brakes - hunt down originals or upgrade?

Featured Replies

Hi,

I bought a mk1 vrs estate earlier this year and when I went to collect it a week later the dealer told me that he had removed one of the rear calipers and replaced it with one he had at the shop as the existing one was done with. He'd also sprayed the remaining green vrs caliper black to match. He then told me that all the brakes would need looking at soon too.

I was a little annoyed to say the least.

I don't know a great deal about cars just yet but I plan on keeping this car for a good long while as it seems great in every other respect. My question is, should I be looking to get hold of some old stock vrs brakes or would it be cheaper/ worth the investment to buy new or track down some used upgrades? I don't have space where I live to be able to take the existing brakes off and have a go at fitting new ones so I'd probably be relying on a garage to fit whatever I end up going with.

Any advice is appreciated, there seems to be a decent following for these cars and I do like mine a lot!
