TSI 190 DSG mpg update

Featured Replies

So, I've done the same trip again that I did a few weeks ago from Middlesbrough to Bracknell - last time I managed ~51MPG driving

between 70 and 80MPH. The car has done ~6000 miles so still not really run in properly.

This time was I following a colleague who was driving a company van and was doing between 60 and 65MPH. When we stopped off at services after

doing 225 miles the average MPG was showing 62.4

It just shows how economical the 2.0 can be if you are a leisurely driver or very old 😁

Needless to say, I won't be doing that journey again at that speed.

I'm now considering getting a Superb with this engine in the new year, now I've seen how excellent the balance of performance and economy is.

Superb Estate with that engine and dsg would certainly be a nice daily drive.

Great results. 62mpg can't be far off the 2L diesel.

Loving mine.

Driving it normally. Accelerating , braking repeat repeat you know like normal! These pictures of 69-70 mpg are just silly. Blatantly obvious you have just cruised along at at 40-50 mph with very few slows or stops. Any car would do the same.

Lets see your Long Term numbers please, never see those do we.

It's misleading to potential new owners who might be influenced by this misleading information. The 190 petrol will average around 38 in normal commute steady use and the diesel higher 40's

How is it misleading?? If I do a long journey at normal motorways speeds then I get ~51MPG average - not misleading anyone there.

If I drive a bit slower on the same journey I get ~62MPG, still not misleading.

If I only ever drive around town in stop start traffic then it's around 34MPG.

And my point is that the petrol 190 can be very economical - which it can, again I don't see how I've mislead anyone.

And here's my long term to keep you happy....
