No radio reception on Amundsen (16my octy vrs)

Featured Replies

I picked my vrs up yesterday (2016 model year, 65 plate registered) and cannot get any radio signal at all, no FM or DAB even manually scanning. Any ideas where to start looking? I do have the option of either Skoda warranty to go through or where I purchased the car from are offering to cover the diagnosis and repair. Just wondering if there was anything I could try first.

Cheers

Check all the connections at the back of the head unit in the glove box  -check that the black connector (DAB aerial) is connected. I recently destroyed the connector and couldn't get any radio until it was fixed ☹️

Cheers for that info. Seems strange that the FM isn't working either. Is it easy to get at? Coming from a MK1 vrs to the MK3 is quite a jump technology wise, bit like going from a zx81 to a Cray supercomputer 😂😂😂

It's easy enough, if you remove the glovebox you will be able to see the connections without removing the radio unit. Check that the black DAB plug to the rear left (as you are looking at the unit feom the passenger seat) is plugged in - give it a wee push to make sure (my GPS cable was loose, no satnav, and a wee push ensured it was properly connected).

It is strange that you don't have any FM, when my radio was disconnected from the DAB aerial it still pocked up some FM stations.

If you've just bought it, I would suggest taking it back to the dealer and get them to rectify rather than taking your car to bits!

If you have OBD11 you can do a scan and see if there's something amiss on that.

It's on the list of many issues that my car is having and mine's a 19 plate.

I have 3 months warranty from the place I bought it, plus just under 12 months of Skoda extended warranty remaining. The place I bought it from have offered to cover it if I can't find the issue. Will see if I can sort it first, cheers for the help.
