Hi folks, 

wondering if anyone has experience here. My Fab 1.9tdi mk1 is needing a sabbatical and a lot of tlc, so I’ve picked up a sweet Octavia 1.9 tdi 4x4 mk2 that needs a new engine. Can’t afford another engine atm so advice is to stick the Fab engine into the Octavia till I have the cash to pick up another Oct engine. Has anyone transplanted like this, and if so is is likely to be a straight forward engine to engine swap, any tips or things to be aware of etc?

What are the two engine codes?

Not sure.. both engines are 1.9tdi though..

Do they need to be the same code to swap just the engine? 

Hopefully @Tech1e will see this and be able to assist you with his knowledge.

Pretty sure there are enough differences that will make life tricky. Things like the crank sensor are different and not transferable. 

Cheers Tech1e, I wasn’t sure they’d be that transferable.. is there a likelihood the fab engine could get damaged then? Might be better picking up an Oct engine than risk damaging my fab..?

If this helps I think mine is an ATD and the Octavia is likely a BXE?

It’s not a case of being damaged, it’s a case it wouldn’t work.
