The interval adjustment on the windscreen wiper stays on the fastest, moving the switch to a lower setting doesn't work. Switch or relay problem?

 

Also I fitted an Ebay windscreen mechanism and the range seems to be too great, wiper goes on the A-piller. I have adjusted the wiper arm so it sits almost on the panel in the normal posistion, but wiper arm still goes on the A-pillar. Any way to adjust this or is the meachanism not completely correct for the car?

Was it an octavia wiper arm mech, or a "mk4 golf platform compatible" unit?

I never had any hassle with my linkages, but it may well be its not an exact match.

 

The interval issue sound like the adjuster switch is either knackered or stuck. Try spraying a good ahot electrical contact cleaner into the adjuster switch and the main stalk switches. If that fails, id say new stalk set..
