Fake leather woes

Featured Replies

So, my 5 year old has decided to write her name on the back of the front passenger seat in biro as well as testing aforementioned biro on the blank canvas of pleather that is before her.

I've tried a few things to remove it but to no avail, any suggestions much appreciated.

Thanks

Put her in the boot in future?

Try baby wipes they seem to remove anything. Autoglyms interior shampoo is good

Hairspray or wd40 removes biro but so do most alcohol based cleaners

Would wd40 mess up the leather?

🤦‍♂️

WD40 is the best thing for it, it will condition the leather as well.

Great! Didn't know it could be used in such a manner, will give it a go tomorrow; think I've a can of GT85 in the garage.

Its the only thing that it is really good at, its a poor lubricant, penetrating or protecting fluid but great for dissolving glues, tars, gums & will be fine for your biro marks, use a white absorbent cloth as it will try to spread the stain as it dilutes it.

No mate it will be fine ,causes no harm to your skin so wont hurt the pleather either .

I'd first try the WD 40 on a hidden or less obvious area, i.e. the side of the seat. Just to make sure the finish is not damaged. There may be specialist upholstery cleaning people out there.

Try to prevent a recurrence-easier said than done.

Side note: WD-40 is a poor lubricant because it is not designed to be a good lubricant. It is a penetrating oil and a water-displacing spray.
