Taking the Engine Cover Off a vRS

Featured Replies

Popped in to my friendly dealer this morning and were chatting about aftermarket mods (;) ) so I asked if they could show me how to remove the engine cover. Well all I can say is that it may just 'pop' off but it took three of us half an hour to figure it out!. Even the chief service guy hadn't done one before and he nearly gave up.

Anyhow, for those that want to remove it there are three very simple steps (now that I know!).

1. Disconect sensor and duct and the rear left of cover, both unclip fairly easily.

2. Remove the two hex head screws that attatch to the 'air box' (front right of cover) and pull away duct.

3. The most tricky bit as it doesn't seem that obvious at first, yank the engine cover!. You will need to exert quite a force almost to the extent that you think you are going to break it but it is held firmly in place by four rubber gromets and a sharp yank will prise it free.

The air filter is mounted inside the cover plate and can be easily accessed by the removal of about half a dozen screws.

Does that mean you've bought yourself a new filter then Steve?

Did you let them drive the beast or didn't you mention those kind of aftermarket mods ;) :P

Might be changing filter, might not. ;)

I let one of 'em have a little play around the block, he came back beaming like a Cheshire cat! :D . I want to put it on the RR now to find out what it's doing.

I believe nuespeed do one, and i believe it sounds fantastic, as well as replacing the engine cover.
