Help please. About to buy my first used Fabia, previous lease cars with work so needed for driving in community as NHS worker. Budget 7k down to two Fabias 1.0 Tsi Se 2016 20k miles versus 2017 1.2 TSI Se 30 k miles . 5 months still on warranty. Cannot decide plan to drive till not financially viable . Your opinions much appreciated.

I suppose predictably those people with 1.2TSI 16V experience will say go for that, for me, that is my advice.

Thanks. Much appreciated but can you please explain reasoning why it's better than new layout 1.0

Not sure what power outputs of the 2 engines in the particular cars you are looking at are (there are various).

Both appear to be tsi (which is a much better engine than the basic mpi versions)

The 1 litre was a replacement for the older 1.2 (which is confusing as you have older car with 1.0), please check this

The older 1.2 was well sorted towards its lend of life, good engine

The new 1.0 is more fuel efficient, but being a 3 cylinder, has a bit of a thrumming sound at idle, which some people don't like

If you are planning to keep them for years, then best to go with fixed services, oil changes wont harm it, and stretched services might cause problems in longer term

SurreyJohn  . You were absolutely correct both cars turned out to be 1.2 s after all   , hence my confusion when doing my research . I've gone for the younger one  now, really do appreciate the advice . Will be lurking on this site but learning so much.

They might have different RFL car tax rates? Went up on 1st April 2017.

There is also two versions of the 1.2 TSI with different power engines and insurance groups.

My 1.2 TSI is a good engine, now up to 39K.

Thanks AG Falco

Thanks   Luckily only £20.  90bhp but am happy with it as had 1.5 diesel fiesta  before but seems to have enough oomph for me .
