Seat memory lost

Featured Replies

Moving the electrically operated seat to clean the interior, I managed to jam it on the grandson toy, left under the seat.

Now I have lost the key (KESSY) memory seat positions and can not set them. Checking with a borrowed VCDS I get the fault code

seat fault

Can anyone suggest a remedy to to re-calibrate the seats,   everything else works OK, and the seats can be moved as normal just the preset positions are now not available

Thank you  (in anticipation)

They should have been as this

I dunno the answer but I'd be tempted to try the same solution for resetting the windows if they ever go wonky - i.e. lower window using one touch then when window is fully lowered, hold the window switch down again.

If that doesn't work then try same with the seat memory button - move seat fully forward, hold memory button down for several second and release. Probably won't work but that's what I'd try first.

Do recall something about moving seat fully forward/up position to reset seat memory.

Probably the same as happened to me in my last superb. There’s a reset function in the post below:

Thanks for the suggestions.  I will try them in the morning

Hi,   I tried the reset action,:
 Seat  fully forward
       fully up
Seat back  fully forward
lumber     fully forward

and got rewarded with a 'bong'This did not cure the memory failure.
Resorting to VCDS, after saving logs etc. I selected
Seat Mem (36)
Basic  (04)
From the Drop down selector there were three (3) selections
Rest to factory
standardise
Norm   (German for standard)
The first two (2) options would not select, giving an error message
The Norm  option was accepted, and activated the 'GO' button
pressed GO   !! DO NOT DO THIS WHILE SITTING IN THE DRIVERS SEAT !!
the seat ran full forward, tilt full up, back full forward and I assume lumber support forward.
resulting in another 'Bong'.
This allowed me to clear the Fault code.
After switching the car off, removing VCDS and switching car back on   I as able to activate Key, set memory, as per handbook, and seat returns to set position.

Thank you everyone that answered.

Glad it’s sorted. Mine happened when moving the seat back fully to clean under it.

Update.   Got SWMBO  to set her seat position today and memorise it (No 2)  Mine set up (No 1) closed and locked car.

unlocked car, momentarily pressed 1, seat moved to stored position.

repeated touching 2 worked OK.

Bugginbob    Tried manually moving seat right back,  touched 1, seat moved to my position. (note don't need to hold down switch).

Will look at using KESSY to set up at a later time. ( It used to work for one key only )
