Hi, I need to change the gaiter over from my original vrs knob and gaiter, to a new forge knob. But I can't get the knob off of the gaiter. Is there a special way of getting the black plastic part that holds it together off, or is it just brute force.

I wouldn't mind not breaking it as it will want to go back on when I sell the car.

I've just pulled the leather from between the knob and the clip out. I couldn't get the clip to move. It hasn't damaged it and now looks fine with the Forge knob on top.
