Skoda octavia slip ring module just replaced

Featured Replies

Hi

I have just had the slip ring module replaced on my 62 plate vrs this has fixed the air bag light, horn, steering wheel controls (mostly). When I picked up the car from the garage I was told that my cruise control isn’t working (which it was and the paddles shifts still aren’t working ). He says these are the same problem, not sure wether to believe him as cruise control was definitely working after the module fault.

Could be incorrectly coded or they may have fitted the wrong module. Do you have the one that was removed?

No don’t have the module. I take it this module would control the paddle shift gears?

Yup, all the buttons on the steering wheel go via the steering wheel module and slip ring.

Thanks it was actually my wife who picked the car up so just discovered only half the controls on the steering wheel are working , multi function computer not working and cruise control not working and when you press it an error message says button for driver assistance system faulty 🙈 on the plus airbag light is off and horn working so mot passed. Is it just the 1 module that does all of this? Sorry to be a pest just want to get my facts right before steaming in all guns blazing.

On a '62 plate car, the slip ring and steering controller are probably combined in a single unit, much like this example: https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/292651866233

There are many versions with different hardware and software depending what car (and it's options) it's fitted to. The rounded rectangular connector at the top of the front is where the steering wheel buttons, airbag and horn all connect to. It also has connectors along the edges for the ignition barrel,  indicator/wiper stalks and to the rest of the car.

Where are you based? It might be worth getting an autoscan done by a local member with VCDS to at least confirm what's been done.
