Does anyone know if the front passenger side  head rest, (on a MK3 Superb), can be completely removed rather than simply adjusted in height please ?

 

I have need to transport some long items, with the back seats down and the front passenger seat fully reclined - The front passenger side head rest "sticks-up" and will be in the way !

Yes it can. I removed mine a few weeks ago to transport some 9 foot fence posts.

 

Raise the headrest fully, then look down inside the seat back where the post slides into the plastic ring on the left hand side. There's a release button in there.

 

Some say that you have to remove the plastic ring to get to it, but I managed to push it with a smallish flat-blade screwdriver with the ring in place.

That's the advice given in the driver's handbook and it works for back head rests, at least.
