Scouts Thin On The Ground ?

Featured Replies

This week I’ve started looking in earnest for a decent used DSG Scout and locally they’re proving to be as rare as the proverbial rocking horse poo !

My nearest dealership at Darlington had a ‘19 plate in earlier in the week.  It was probably a bit out of my budget, but I thought I’d have a look at it today. Unfortunately when I rang up, it had pretty much been sold as soon as it came in and they have nothing else in their network. Another dealership in Durham have nothing in their network either.

Looks like I’m going to have to start looking further afield.

Have you tried derek slack in middlesbrough. Just checked their website and the have 3 scouts in stock (150bhp manual) with a 184bhp dsg on its way.

Thank you, I’ll check them out this morning 👍🏻

They stopped importing Scouts into the UK several months ago, so they're only going to get rarer.

When I spoke to one of the sales team at Slacks on Sunday, he said that one of his managers would be able to check their database on Monday, for ‘contract hire’ customers coming towards the end of their hire periods and see if any were planning on returning their cars.

Stuck at work all day today, but got home to a voicemail message saying that a few Scouts had turned up. Sales guy is off tomorrow, but I’m hoping to be able to follow this up with him on Wednesday.

What you after - date, mileage, spec etc?

2017 - 2019 with as low mileage as possible. DSG is high up on my priorities.

Spec wise, I’m happy enough with standard on the Scout, but any optional extras that have been added could be a bonus.... heated screen, tow bar etc. What specs are there ?.... with not buying new, I’ve not really looked at that side of things.

Dealership got back to me this morning and they have ‘19 plate coming shortly with 10k on the clock, which I’ll be taking a look at and there are a couple of others due in too.

Deposit paid, so I should be an actual Scout owner soon, rather than a wannabe 😀

Which have you gone for... colour, dsg, any extras ? Is it one from Slacks ?

Cheers

White ‘19 plate, DSG from Slacks..... thank you for the heads up !

The one thing i did love on mine was the heated windscreen - i do miss that

Nice one.

As for modifications and bits and bobs it depends what you intend to use it for. Id definately get the rubber flootr and boot mats (i have the genuine skoda ones and they are great). Ive also got a bumber sill cover for the back bumper as they do get scuffed a lot and i dont know why they arnt fitted as standard.

I have the detachable tow ball wgich is really goo and also have a full size spare which i took from my old octavia before trade in.

Cheers

I think the only thing i would want would be adaptive cruise control and maybe the heated windscreen. My is a 2016 150 manual so doesnt have these bits but the 2019 dsg might .

Heated screen is part of winter pack which is extra, not sure if available on its own but it isnt standard.  As you did I took the spare from my Oct 2 and stuck it in the Oct 3

Car will be ready for me midweek, but I can’t get to collect it until Thursday. Looking forward to that !

Dealer reckons the car is pretty much standard spec, but due to having a black Labrador, I’ve ordered the rubber boot mat and bumper protector. I’ll need to live with the car for a bit, before adding anything else to it.

I need roof bars for my sea kayaks, but need to check my loft first, as I’m sure I’ve got a set of Thule Aeros somewhere. I’ll just need to change the feet again if so.
