Neuspeed Turbo intake pipe

Featured Replies

As the stock intake pipe is quite restrictive due to the design, im considering purchasing one of these.

Would there be a noticeable increase in performance(not buying a performance exhaust system just yet)?

Is fitment simple?

Again is it likely to increase the insurance premium?

By the way those who have remaps how much did your premium increase by?

Do direct line accept mods?

I believe this one was mentioned in the performance FAQ (the one that reads like War and Peace :D )

Would there be a noticeable increase in performance(not buying a performance exhaust system just yet)? Yes, quite considerable. However, I'd do other things first. Why unblock this bit when you have a restrictive airbox? If you feel like improving the flow through that but don't want a CAI, try dremmeling out the fins and changing the filter itself for something like the K&N panle filter that fits the standard airbox

Is fitment simple? Ish. Take about an hour if you do it on axle stands

Again is it likely to increase the insurance premium? Possibly

By the way those who have remaps how much did your premium increase by? Dunno

Do direct line accept mods? yes, but can be pricey

is replacing a metal pipe that was cracked with a new one sourced from a 3rd party that isnt quite o-e spec but cheaper a mod? :nono:

just my 2p. and fit the pipe.. all the best people have them.

I believe this is better. This hose replaces the existing hose and metal turbo intake combination. Anyway, I have already ordered it and waiting for it to arrive from forge.

Just one mistake after another.

Try before you buy if you like.

Des

Guys (Tavia, ffelan, any other),

As GR Octavia ABT wrotes he managed to get this samco TIP from Forge UK for a total cost (sipping included) 240Euro estimated.

Others from clubs in Greece were interested in this (me too) but Forge UK does not want to sell here since there is a local partner (AVC Weber).

The problem is ..THE DAMN PRICE...whitch is almost 350E...

Is there a way to contact Ade, Disco, etc to help us providing from there a couple of Forge's TIPs?????

Or if you are interested to aggange a group buy maybe??

(The cars are Octavias, Leon, Golf not S3 or TT).

Thanks,

Just one mistake after another.

This is possibly my own fault so I shouldn't complain really but I'am astounded that very few people take notice of my posts in My Performance. I have to chuckle to myself when members keep making the same mistakes even after I've given out golden nuggets of info, which I don't usually do for this very reason I might add. I have spent a shed load of money on my RS making mistakes along the way so i'm just trying to impart this experience onto the Briskoda brethren but haho spend away.

still can't get the point

THE PIPE YOU SHOULD BE LOOKING AT IS ABD RACINGS TURBO INTAKE PIPE.

Has the penny dropped yet. ;)

... Guess what they are trying to say is look at this thread which gives the recommendations / experience of more than one experienced "modder" on many of these areas.

That post may not give the exact reasons for recommending or not considering certain makes but im sure the relevant people wouldn't mind you PM'ing them to ask whether they had already tried the mod that you are considering. :smile-l:

Thank you KentStu. This yes, is an answer.

I just do not "understand" statements like "Just one mistake after another." or "Has the penny dropped yet." , etc ...

I have already red all these recommendations, which indeed are very useful and help a lot to decide on what to do for this and for that.

But I have also red many other posts in other forums saying the the samco hose is an excellent mod. I also know some Leon owners here in Athens who have fitted this hose with excellent results.

So I decided to buy this hose. I do not see the reason why this has to be a mistake. Perhaps not the best solution ( ? ) , but a mistake????.....

Oh well at least I tried. Didn't realize that a Seat was the same as a Skoda ie, the same ECU, the same gearing and most of all the same KO3s intake diameter, 44mm as apposed to 45mm. Then again just maybe I do know what i'm talking about.

I agree with the Greek chaps. The answers are just too cryptic (especially if English isn't your first language!).

All of the people who have posted so far on this particular thread have vastly more experience of modding cars than me and lets face it most people on this forum have more modding experience than me. Up until February this year I was driving a 1.4 Golf (!), it was only when I knew I was getting an RS and found this forum that I became aware of the fun that can be had taking a standard car and making it 'not so standard'. I really value the opinions of Des and TaviaRS but you either want to give info or you don't. Cryptic replies and posting under other usernames are not, in my opinion, the way to go. I get the impression that it is a bit 'I know something you don't know' and that is just a bit ****ty in my book. And I'm not talking about technical knowledge, as I've already said I rely on the likes of Des and Jon to ever so slowly pick that up.

Sorry, don't know what came over me then...

Des, are you by any chance trying to usurp my hard-earned Victor Meldrew image? grumpy.gif

If we all took your advice - good and thoroughly researched as it undoubtedly is - we would all be driving clones of your car...........and I for one would NOT be happy with that. (The colour sucks for starters...) Part of the fun of life is learning from one's own mistakes, so why the heck should you have all that fun and expect us to follow like sheep? :baaa: :xmas:

Nobody likes a smart ****!

I don't know you, Des, but so far I have respected your opinions and notice that you have made a valuable contribiution to the forum, with a wealth of experience that we can all learn from.

Could you maybe exercise a bit more patience with less experienced forum users, especially if English isn't their first language?

IMHO, the friendly, helpful atmosphere on Briskoda is one of the main differences between it and the other forums out there on the net......

Firstly I must point out that my native tongue is also not English so you must excuse my English.

Secondly my only other usernames are DOH! and Sam & Janet FULL STOP, Don't really care if no one beleaves this small fact. Can't remember ever having posted any performance related post under these names.

Thirdly, why has nearly 99.9% of all the chipped cars on this forum been carried out by Jabba, surely we all don't want and I quote "to be driving clones of my car". Maybe because it's a good product.

Denis,

I refuse to beleave you of all people would stand by and let someone make a mistake subscribing to the Part of the fun of life is learning from one's own mistakes. I can quite categorically state that looking at a trashed gearbox is no fun, I think Jon would concur on the engine front.

I do try to be patient but posting the same thing just to be ignored once again does grate, maybe the obnoxious w****r mode isn't the best attitude to adopt but it is getting the message across.

"I know something you don't know" WTF

And after everything myself and Jon have posted, now I don't understand. Please say if you don't want this info.

At a loss, Des

Ok, let's give an end to this.

Des, I visit the forum and read most of the posts every day. The info you and Tavia are providing (and other members of course) is extremely useful. That's why also Loukas is asking many times for Tavia's opinion.

If I manage to fit the damn hose (I'll try next Wed), I'll post here some pics and inform you about the experience.

The Samco hose

OK, you want reasons why I choose the ABD one over the Samco one, here goes:

1. The first part of the hose after the MAF is wide and free flowing and IMHO doesn't need replacing. Compare the Samco to a standard one and you'll see what I mean.

2. If you look at the pipework (at the turbo end) you will notice that both the standard pipe and the metal replacement one both have an O ring which make a complete seal. They are also both bolted to the turbo by a 5mm allen bolt, making a good seal that will not, under any circumstances pop off.

3. The Samco, yes it is good, isn't quite as free flowing as the ABD pipe, fits over the outside of the turbo union (rather than inside) and is secured with a jubilee clip (you will need quite a few of these) which isn't as secure

4. The ABD one is shiny and I got it at a very good price :D

I'm sure that the Samco will offer an improvement over the standard one, but my preference is for the ABD one as IMHO it is better (what I'd really like is a combination of the upper pipe in Samco combined with the ABD lower pipe.

Hope that helps.

Jon.

Right.....

'I know something you don't know'

Not sure whether to laugh or cry at this one, may even possibly be a tad offended. Myself and others have not hidden the final state of the mods we have made. If I had I wouldn't be facing a bill for the thick end of

Well that got a bit of a reaction didn't it?

The start of this post was the first thing I read when I got home yesterday and for some reason the 'tone' just wound me up. As we all know this form of communication leads to problems sometimes and I guess this is a good example.

I apologise to Des and Jon.

And I'm trying to avoid a bitch slap off Des on Sunday.

Rich,

Will you stop apologizing! You have nothing to apologise for.

Your post was your opinion and you are entitled to it and you may even be right on the tone thingy.

There'll be no bitch slapping (lovely turn of phrase that) as i'm a lover not a fighter and i'm a nice person, very modest too. ;)

That would be the best combination, I agree with you 100%.

cut the lower part

of the samco hose,

why not ..............)

Thanks.

The joint is a bitch! Its a metal hosed spring clip arrangement :(

As for the bitch slap, don't worry, Des only has small hands :D
