CAN getaway replacement

Featured Replies

Hello all,

In need of some advice please,  is it right if i replace the CAN getaway controller as my latest build  (2017 - ver HW6276) Columbus infotainment retrofit  seems it does not "speak"  sometimes correctly with the car and also the MFSW buttons?

Current factory is from 2009  and version  1K0 907 530 AD - H16 0231 .

What version would be ideal?

Is it just a copy paste the l-coding from old to newer one  (via VCDS) or needs more modifications?

Thank s a lot .

The only issue I'm aware of with CAN-gateways is the battery drain issue. The AD isn't on the list so it should be fine: http://wiki.ross-tech.com/wiki/index.php/Navigation_System_(RNS510)_Retrofitting

Has the Columbus been coded to the car properly as this could be a BAP/DDP issue.

Thnaks for reply,

It works pretty well but when wanting to decrease volume from MFSW button it requires 2 scrolls to "wake up" while increrasing normally gets 1  always.  If in a short time of until 5,6 secs trying to decrease vol  it hears and 1 click from MFSW button then it corresponds.    When more of few secs,  then one click will not work , will need 2 clicks of the rotary button to reduce 1 volume scale.

Fiscon BT controller also sometimes does not show 1 or more call lists  (not always)  like received, dialed or missed  -  this can either happen on the FIS screen or in the same infotainment telephone menu.

THe Fiscon is the  Basic +.

Any ideas,

That's already using BAP which I'm pretty sure is correct for a FL.

It sounds like the MFSW buttons might be failing given that description. I'd probably take them apart and checking everything is in good working order. I've no idea if the Fiscon is doing anything strange, might be worth unplugging it to confirm.

ISn't logical that all the modules which they speak and exchange data/info together  (infotainment device/module - MFSW/steering wheel module - Fiscon BT module )   that the CAN perhaps can't make them communicate properly as this is responsible for all controllers in vehicle?

The MFSW button work correctly just only in specific times only the down volume which requires 2 scrolls to wake..

You think if upgrading the CAN isn't bad.

Does the MFSW buttons have controller for example the sterring wheel and could do better with a newer version...

If there were CAN-bus issues, I'd expect fault codes showing intermittent comms, single wire mode or even low/impacted performance. Given you've not mentioned any fault codes and it being intermittent, it feels like the physical buttons are at fault instead.

Might be worth checking the steering controller for measuring blocks that relate to the buttons and testing them that way.

OK, than k you very much - i'll try the testing via the VCDS to see any results..
