About to buy a Superb (I think )

Featured Replies

Guys I have been offered a 2011 superb estate for a really good price . Looks amazing and full dealer service history. The only down side is that it has covered 191, 000 Mike's in it's short life .

Is this something that should worry me ?

Is there anything I should be looking out for when I see it/ test drive it ?

Thanks in advance

Hi,

Is it a petrol or diesel? Mileage doesnt worry me too much, it depends on the type of miles (short trips/motorway).

If diesel, at that age I would be asking whether its had any work done on the Diesel Particulate Filter or the EGR valve.

Apart from that, if it drives well and has full dealer service history, not much else you can worry about. Always a chance some thing could go wrong at that Mileage.

It's a 2.0tdi . I think I would be blanking the EGR as I have done that on every tdi I have had in the past .

Thanks for the heads up on the DPF . Never had a car with one of those fitted

Blanking the EGR valve is a really terrible idea on the common rail TDI. It's heavily integrated into the ECU and separating it out from the other engine control functions is difficult. With the kind of mileage it's done the EGR is probably in decent enough shape anyway. It's very low mileage cars that run into trouble as they clog up with gunk and get stuck.
